Austin Girls Choir, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit holds its annual fundraiser on November 10 at the Family Life Center at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church. The event features chef tastings, including delicious bites from Say laV‘s Executive Chef Allison Jenkins, who, along with her business partner and sommelier Vilma Maizaite, is taking Austin’s culinary scene by storm. Rounding out the menu are Michelle Doyon of Michelle’s Patisserie, Jaynie Buckingham of Cutie Pies, Beets Living Foods Cafe‘s Sylvia Heisey, and Birgis Adeni Rashed.
Women Who Cook will help fund performances and tours for Austin’s musically talented 8-18 year old girls who perform with the choir. The cream of the choir crop tours nationally, with an international tour planned every three years. In our live music loving city, it makes sense to support this nonprofit. Stir some great chefs into the mix and this night promises to be a chart topper on the fundraiser scene. Local songstress Erin Ivey and her band will bring just the right touch of urban folk to the night, along with a solo set by Lex Land.
Tickets are affordably priced at $30 in advance, $35 at the door. I suggest getting yours now, by calling (512) 453-0884. Your ears and tummy will thank you.
